After installation, you start the game using the shortcut in the Duke3D folder, |
desktop or start menu called "Duke3D High Resolution Pack". Starting the game |
directly will start JFDuke3D (or EDuke32) without textures and models. |

3.2) Highlights of this release |
------------------------------- |
Compared to previous release (HRP v4), you can expect the following changes: |
|
> Full Polymer lighting support (with maphacks) |
> Polymer support for many textures (normal/specular mapping) |
> Polymer support for HUD weapons: Chaingun, RPG, Devastator |
> Increased resolution for several textures and model skins (beyond standard 512x512 HRP res) |
> New model for Lunar Overlord (ep.2 boss) |
> Improvements to the ingame menu (new font, some new screens) |
> Hundreds of new textures, dozens of new models - overall HRP size increased from 285 MB to over 550+ MB! |
|
IMPORTANT! |
---------- |
Please note that all HRP v5 contents has been optimized for usage with Polymer renderer. |
This means that if you use the older Polymost renderer, you WILL encounter problems (HUD |
weapons rendered incorrectly or other display glitches). Polymer requirements offer advanced |
graphics effects but demand much better hardware. If you are forced to use Polymost due to |
having a weaker machine, you have to download a different HRP build! |

3.3) Known issues |
----------------- |
Although we tried hard to eliminate or avoid any glitches, unfortunately |
some of them could not be removed in this release. Here are those we know of: |
|
- Current EDuke32 problems (might get fixed in future versions): |
> At the end of episodes 1-3, you will not see the end screen after the |
cinematic. Instead, only a black screen will show up. |
> The startup/loading screens are not optimized for widescreen resolutions |
and might show black stripes on both sides and possibly some distortions, |
depending on your display. |
|
- Rarely you will still find props, pickup weapons or the like that are |
clipping into walls, often preventing you from seeing them completely. |
Maphacks can fix these glitches, so don't hesitate to report anything you |

3.4) EDuke32 port |
3.5) EDuke32 port |
----------------- |
The EDuke32 port is an enhanced version of JonoF's initial JFDuke3D port and |
features enhanced mod support together with tons of newly-added code. It is |
released and maintained by TerminX. |
For the time being, we recommend using EDuke32 for running HRP because the port |
gets updated much more often and HRP content has been optimized for it. |
